Everton captain Phil Neville is set to be sidelined until Christmas after damaging knee ligaments in the Premier League defeat by Fulham. But the 32-year-old, who was hurt in a challenge with Fulham's Dickson Etuhu, is unlikely to require surgery. Goalkeeper Jamie Langfield says despite being happy with Aberdeen's response in recent weeks, the Dons know more goals are needed. After a disappointing start to the season which saw Aberdeen embarrassed by Sigma Olomouc in the Europa League, Mark McGhee's side have improved defensively. James Vaughan helped ease Everton's injury problems with a 90-minute run-out for the reserves in Monday's 2-0 defeat against Hull. Everton captain Phil Neville damaged knee ligaments in yesterday's 2-1 defeat at Fulham and could face a "lengthy lay-off", the club have confirmed on their website. Neville was stretchered from the field and club physiotherapist Mick Rathbone confirmed that the player could now be out for some time. "An MRI scan on Monday morning has confirmed our fears and it has revealed that Phil has damaged ligaments at the back of his knee," Rathbone told the club website.

FEARS are growing that Everton striker James Vaughan may have suffered a fresh injury blow. The forward was named in the England under-21 squad to face Macedonia last Friday, but according to the official FA website pulled out "with a knee problem." The injury is unconfirmed by Everton, but Vaughan has failed to appear on the substitutes' bench in their last two matches.
